Notice there’re only 4 options available. Select “Check for Updates”, and wait patiently. There should be a progress bar or some animation going on the screen but no, it’s a strange blind wait. Nevetheless, you’ll notice there’ll be a whole lot more stuffs after checking for updates is done. Once that happens, scroll down and select “nitoTV”and install it. Reboot ] i did that and after selecting the 3rd party option my apple tv just rebooted itself.

i searched another option with instructions on how to use my macbook and the terminal option. that has not worked either. often resulting in errors that said the operation timed out or that that it was not recognized..
could someone offer me some help please::::::::::::::::?

Re: Hacking Apple TV to run boxee, XBMC and enable an external hard drive

This is so frustrating. Un-hacked. Recently did something stupid. Posted the following on Apple Discussion Forums, wondering if anyone here can give me some guidance. "Wrote over my master iTunes library. No, the same volume was also the Time Machine Back Up volume. Yes - stupid. However, I do have 2 ATVs, and they have the Movies, Photos, TV Shows that were previously synching with my Master Library. Is there anyway for me to pair up one of the ATVs with my Mac, and tell iTunes to import/copy all media from the ATV down to the new iTunes library?

Re: Hacking Apple TV to run boxee, XBMC and enable an external hard drive

Here is how I got around that issue:

Google "2Z694-5573-24.dmg" - this will give you a site or two where you can d/l the file.
Once on your HD, point to it instead of letting the patchstick software d/l it.
it should work seamlessly.

Ben

Re: Hacking Apple TV to run boxee, XBMC and enable an external hard drive

Hi there:
I have downloaded this software but it's been two days that I have been trying to download the "2Z694-5573-24.dmg." by clicking on Create using button and it gives me a "HTTP Error 404: Not Found" message.
any solution dudes?

Re: Hacking Apple TV to run boxee, XBMC and enable an external hard drive

Hi Tomek,
I have post an other article on my site, that you might find interesting.

Run Transmission (bittorrent) on the Apple TV
http://dannyruchtie.nl/inde...
